The film tells the story of a pious plantation owner during Cuba’s Spanish colonial period. The plantation owner decides to recreate the Biblical Last Supper using twelve of the slaves working in his sugarcane fields, hoping to thus teach the slaves about Christianity. (Mubi)

Entitled “The Human condition and behaviourism”, the first episode of Cinema Al-Bahja is curated by filmmaker Roxanne Sbitte. This program includes 8 movies that are screened weekly at Manjm during December 2017 - January 2018. The theme will be concluded by a performative piece produced by artist Maiada Salfiti, which will roam in continuity around the same topic.

This episode is aimed to arouse questions around various profiles of brutality and violence and to stimulate a discourse about the social, religious, political or cultural dominance on human condition and behaviorism.
